Charmed Life by Diana Wynne Jones

Charmed Life will enchant children of different ages as well as grown ups of course. Some older children may find it childish but it is bursting with fun and magic and it will have a place somewhere in your heart. With the horrible Gwendolen on the search for queendom her poor little brother Cat can only tag along. With a lovely list of characters Charmed Life has 3D characters with an often hilarious plot. The ending is brilliant with a happy finale. I cant wait for all the other adventures to come for Cat and the others and oh, will they be overflowing with intelligence and sharp wit.

The Luxe by Anna Godbersen

Have a crave for a glamorous read? Want some deadly gossip? Turn to The Luxe straight away! With a handbagful of gossip, a dollop of scandal and a fairy wand dash of girly fun, no one could resist a cosy night in with this in their hands.
With a cast list as large and varied as The Luxe often misunderstandings occur, whether on purpose or not. My absolute favourite girl has to be Diana Holland. Brave and brilliant she is at the top of my list but not far down is definitely Lina. She is as clueless with fashion and trends as I am and I soon felt at home next to her. I thought the plot may be tiring, all about girls being horrible to each other but to my surprisement there was only one rich scandalous girl like that and she happens to be Penelope Hayes. Bossy and annoying, she evens out all the nice characters. She is definitely a warning sign. The writing is right in its time and you can feel the glitz in the air. With that gorgeous cover any girl will fall for this book and they wont be disappointed.

Fearless by Tim Lott

I rip the wrapping paper to shreds, hoping to god that its another book. please, please, please I beg. It feels like a book, it smells like a book but as I glare at the front cover I see its cover isn't like a normal book. okay, okay, don't judge a book by its cover but two withering angels does look freaky to a twelve year old. A tight-lipped smile says thank you and Fearless goes in a drawer locked up forever, wouldn't you think? Well, a few years after, while rummaging for a good book to read I find the freaky cover back in my hands. My hunger for a book won over my fear and I actually read it. I read one page and then another one, until with surprise I found I was hooked.
I'm in love with Little Fearless, I can picture what she drinks, orange juice; what she wears, a tattered cardigan; her bad habit? Picking her nose of course! She is so alive that even when the book is over, not very long after I started it, she is buzzing around in my mind. I adore the characters names, very personality-revealing: Stench, Beauty, Tattle etc.(!) Reading Fearless was like going back in time when you were young again, lying to your parents about a stolen lolly, standing up for what you thought were your rights and all those crazy adventures in your back garden are reminisced. This is a perfect read for anyone wishing to be a child again.

Graceling by Kristen Cashore

This fantasy novel is beautiful. The plot is how it should be and its king. Never will the reader falter to believe what is going on which is hard for a fantasy writer to convey. Katsa the feminine heroine has her reasons to be cool and nearly uncharacterly, but she is believable because of her past. Po on the other hand is charming and lovable (even with that horrible name) and it is obvious they are meant to be together.
The story opens with kick ass adventure leaving the reader with a dropped jaw and mellows after the first few pages into a normal read, normal being heartbreakingly beautiful and amazing. Graceling is usually found in the adult/fantasy but that said a child could pick it up and be sent away on a rollicking journey through the seven kingdoms, in which Graceling is set. If you aren't a fan of Tolkien this is a suburban fantasy but if, like me, your obsessed you will love this masterpiece. A five star for me.
